Activator Methods® in Laurens
Curious about chiropractic care but uneasy about the twisting or popping you’ve seen in videos? There’s another way to deliver an adjustment. Dr. Mitch Davis, D.C., uses Activator Methods® at Bennett Chiropractic Clinic, LLC. This approach combines a structured assessment with a handheld adjusting instrument. It’s the only adjusting technique used in our practice.
What the Activator Instrument Does
The Activator delivers a brief, controlled, low-force impulse to a selected joint. Its small tip allows Dr. Davis to direct the adjustment to a specific area without a forceful manual thrust. You may hear the instrument click and feel a quick tap. The adjustment doesn’t depend on producing a popping sound. He explains the positioning and procedure before beginning, and you can ask questions at any point.
Decades of Experience with the Method
Our chiropractor took his first Activator Methods class in 1994 while attending chiropractic college. When he joined this practice in 1998, founder Dr. Victor Bennett asked him to continue its Activator-only approach, which began in 1982. It continues to be the only strictly Activator-based provider in the county. In 2000, Dr. Davis earned the Advanced Proficiency rating through Activator Methods. His training involved basic, intermediate, and advanced coursework, along with written and practical examinations. During practical testing, he had to demonstrate assessment and adjusting procedures while explaining his clinical reasoning. He continues advanced education each year to maintain his rating.
An Assessment Comes Before the Adjustment
The instrument is one part of the appointment. Your symptoms, health history, and examination findings help Dr. Davis determine whether an adjustment is appropriate and which areas to address. The aim is to improve joint movement and ease related musculoskeletal discomfort. A low-force approach still requires an individual assessment; it isn’t suitable for every person or every concern.
What to Expect After Your Visit
People respond differently to adjustments. Changes may be gradual, and temporary soreness can occur. Tell Dr. Davis about any new or worsening symptoms so he can reassess your care. Your experience helps guide follow-up recommendations, rather than a promise that an adjustment will last a certain length of time.
